The annual Just Cuts Cut-a-Rama festivities are coming to Bendigo's Bridge Hotel this year to kick off the Outback Car Trek and help raise vital funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Cut-a-Rama will see Just Cuts Bendigo Stylists transform 'trekker' hair and style patrons from 6pm on Saturday, June 1, at the Bridge Hotel. 98 cars and 220 trekkers will depart the following morning on an 8-day drive over 3,900km that concludes at Main Beach in Queensland on Sunday, June 9.

Since 1990, Just Cuts Clients and Stylists have raised over $510,000 for the RFDS through the annual Cut-a-Rama event that kicks off the car rally and donation boxes in over 190 salons Australia-wide.

The Outback Car Trek is an annual charity car rally that donates the funds it raises to The Royal Flying Doctor Service. Trekkers use vintage 2WD cars tweaked to cope with dirt road driving.

The Outback Car Trek raises awareness of the disadvantages many Australians face in accessing the medical care residents of major cities take for granted. According to RFDS research, by 2028, remote Australia will have fewer GPs and physiotherapists while the burden of illness increases.

Just Cuts founder and long-term trekker Denis McFadden will complete the Outback Car Trek in the Just Cuts Cutmobile with his wife Jenny, and he is looking forward to his 24th Cut-a-Rama.

"If you've got a mate with bad hair or just a bad head, bring them down to the Bridge Hotel from 6pm on June 1, and the Just Cuts Bendigo Stylists will give them a fresh new look," said Denis.

"Cut-a-Rama " is about kicking off the Outback Car Trek with a bang. You can dare your mates to get their hair cut, coloured and shaved, all for a great cause. There's always a packed house with lots of laughs, live music and great memories as we raise money to fund the vital services of the RFDS."

Just Cuts Bendigo owners Graham and Vicki Bird and their team of Stylists will bring their skills, scissors and styling chairs to the Bridge Hotel front bar from 7pm on June 1.

"Our Stylists are ready and raring to do it for the doctor," said Graham. "We've supported the RFDS for years, and Vicki and I look forward to joining in on all the Cut-a-Rama fun."

"Hundreds of Just Cuts Stylists live and work in regional salons like ours across Australia. We understand the need to fund the RFDS's healthcare and emergency services to support the communities that continue to support our small family-owned salons."

The RFDS provides regular fly-in and fly-out GP, Nursing, and Allied Health Clinics to support rural and remote communities. With a 7.13 million square kilometre waiting room, the RFDS provides 24-hour aeromedical emergency services to Australia.

In many locations, the RFDS is the only provider of health care services, replacing 'local' doctors and delivering health care services to families throughout their lives.
