Mt Hutton residents in need of a haircut can now visit the new look Just Cuts salon at Lake Macquarie Square, opening to clients on Monday after closing for refurbishment before COVID-19.

Just Cuts Mt Hutton Owner, Fletcher Kidd, says he’d decided to renovate his salon 10 days before COVID-19 restrictions began.

“Only 10 days out from COVID-19 we signed off on the quotes to upgrade our salon,” says Fletcher.

“It’s been financially tough for many small businesses in the area, but we’ve seen it through and our Stylists are pleased to finally be back providing quality and affordable Style Cuts for local clients.”

“The end result is worth it – especially now with people coming back to the salon and feeling safe with all the enhanced hygiene procedures we have in place at Just Cuts.”

Fletcher says his team of stylists are going above and beyond government mandated requirements to maintain client health and hygiene.

“We’re maintaining strict social distancing in our salon at all times,” says Fletcher.

“I know other businesses might not be doing the right thing, but clients can feel safe at Just Cuts.”

“We’re open 7 days a week and you don’t need an appointment – clients can check in on the Just Cuts app and we’ll text you when it’s time to make your way to the salon, so there’s no queues.”

Growing up in Newcastle with his family, Fletcher jointly owns the salon with his Partner Amber, and they are parents to 3 sons. They support local rugby, cricket and lawn bowls clubs.

“My sons and I get our haircuts together every month, and I’m about to take our 8 month old Lionel for his very first haircut soon,” says Fletcher. “It will be a big moment for our family.”

The new look Mt Hutton salon offers Clients access to a range of JUSTICE Professional styling and scalp care products to help maintain their hair in between visits.

More about Just Cuts

Just Cuts is an Australian hairdressing franchise that bridges the gap between a barber and a high end hair salon. With salons in every state of Australia, on both the North and South islands New Zealand and the United Kingdom, it is the largest hairdressing company in the Southern Hemisphere. Based on a fixed price, no appointment system, Just Cuts offers clients affordable haircuts from fully qualified hairdressers and performs over 100,000 Style Cut cuts per week across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Celebrating 30 years in 2020, Just Cuts was the brainchild of Denis McFadden, who turned a simple idea into a business concept that would change the hairdressing industry forever. McFadden ran his first ever “no appointment, $6 Style Cut” promotion at his humble Sydney salon, receiving an outstanding response from clients. It was on this basic fixed price initiative that the idea of Just Cuts was born. The following year, the inaugural Just Cuts salon opened its door to the public. And in 1990, the first Just Cuts franchise opened in the suburb of Engadine, in the south of Sydney, New South Wales. Our brand has continued to expand ever since, with over 220 locations across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

In 2013, Just Cuts launched JUSTICE Professional – a range of salon quality haircare and styling products available exclusively in all our salons at a competitive, affordable price. The JUSTICE Professional line has something for everyone, including everyday shampoos and conditioners, anti-dandruff and dry scalp treatments, toning products, nourishing leave-in treatments and a range of hair styling waxes and sprays.
