A Cut Above: Just Cuts Franchisees Vicki and Graham Celebrate a Decade of Success

From searching for the right business to becoming proud owners of five successful salons across three states, Vicki and Graham's journey with Just Cuts is a shining example of how a franchise partnership can lead to both professional success and personal fulfilment.

The husband-and-wife team joined the Just Cuts network in December 2015, opening their first salon in Miranda, New South Wales – close to home and the community they know well.

“Before joining Just Cuts, we were exploring small business opportunities that would allow us to work together,” says Vicki. “Graham was ready to transition out of his corporate career, and I was looking to re-establish my professional path after raising our family.”

After reviewing more than 20 different business models, the pair chose Just Cuts for its proven, well-established franchise system that offers a unique balance of corporate support and local business ownership.

“The Just Cuts brand really stood out to us,” adds Graham. “It had a mature and respected model, and it gave us the potential to grow our business while maintaining the lifestyle flexibility we value – including family time and travel.”

Their business journey quickly expanded beyond Miranda. In January 2018, they acquired their second salon in Bendigo, Victoria, followed by three more Queensland locations – Chermside, North Lakes, and Strathpine – in July 2021. Now, with five salons under their belt, Graham has officially retired from his corporate role, and the couple are fully immersed in running the business together.

“Working together has been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey,” says Vicki. “We complement each other’s strengths and share a real passion for what we do. It’s also been wonderful to build lasting friendships with other franchisees and our dedicated salon teams.”

Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vicki and Graham are proud of how their business weathered the storm. Their resilience, leadership, and commitment to team wellbeing saw all five salons emerge in good shape, continuing to thrive in the post-pandemic landscape.

“Looking back, getting through COVID with our team intact and our salons performing well was a huge milestone. But there have been so many little wins along the way too,” says Graham. “It’s a privilege to be part of an industry that genuinely helps people feel good about themselves.”

The couple have completed full salon refurbishments in Bendigo and North Lakes and are planning upgrades for Miranda, Strathpine, and Chermside over the next 18 months to align with the new Just Cuts brand styling.

Looking ahead, Vicki and Graham are optimistic about the future of the Just Cuts and Justice Haircare brands, and are excited about continuing to grow their business before eventually transitioning to retirement.

“Right now, with almost 10 years in the business, we feel incredibly fortunate,” says Vicki. “Just Cuts has delivered on its promise – strong business performance, meaningful personal connections, and a sense of fulfilment that comes from doing something we truly believe in.”
